Welcome to bufaya. By participating in our healing retreats involving ancestral medicines, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before registering for or attending any retreat. These Terms apply to all participants, visitors, and others who access or participate in our retreats.

1. Eligibility

By attending a retreat, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age.

  • You are in good physical, mental, and emotional health, capable of participating in activities involving ancestral medicines and healing ceremonies.

  • You have disclosed any medical conditions, physical or mental health issues, medications, or history of substance abuse to us prior to attending the retreat.

  • You have obtained clearance from a healthcare professional if you have any health concerns or conditions that might affect your participation.

2. Ancestral Medicines Disclaimer

Bufaya’s healing retreats may involve the use of ancestral medicines, including but not limited to ayahuasca, Kambo, Bufo Alvarius, psilocybin, etc., which are derived from ancient traditions and indigenous cultures. These medicines are considered sacred and are used in ceremonial contexts.

  • Not Medical Treatment: The use of ancestral medicines in our retreats is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Participants must not consider this a substitute for professional medical advice or therapy.

  • Potential Risks: The use of ancestral medicines involves both physical and psychological risks, including but not limited to nausea, emotional distress, altered states of consciousness, and potential adverse reactions based on individual health conditions.

  • Personal Responsibility: By attending, you acknowledge the personal and spiritual nature of these experiences and take full responsibility for your physical, mental, and emotional well-being during the retreat.

3. Medical and Health Information

Participants must disclose any relevant medical history, medications, or mental health conditions prior to attending the retreat. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from the retreat, and Bufaya is not liable for any consequences arising from undisclosed health information.

  • Consultation: We strongly recommend consulting with your physician or therapist before participating in any healing retreat that involves ancestral medicines.

  • Prohibited Substances: Participants must abstain from the use of alcohol, recreational drugs, or any contraindicated substances for a period of time as instructed by our facilitators before, during, and after the retreat.

4. Registration, Fees, and Payment

  • Registration Process: To secure your place in a retreat, you must complete the registration form and submit the required payment. Spaces are limited and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Fees: The retreat / Ceremony fee includes accommodation, meals, and participation in all ceremonies and activities. It does not include transportation to the retreat location unless specified otherwise.

  • Payment Terms: All fees must be paid in full before the start of the retreat. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of your reservation.

  • Cancellation Policy: If you cancel your participation in a retreat, you may be eligible for a partial refund or transfer depending on the timing of the cancellation. Please refer to our cancellation policy for details.

5. Code of Conduct

Participants are expected to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Respect: Treat facilitators, staff, and fellow participants with respect and kindness at all times.

  • Confidentiality: Maintain the privacy of other participants by keeping their personal stories, experiences, and interactions confidential.

  • Participation: You are encouraged to participate fully in ceremonies and activities but are free to excuse yourself from any part of the retreat if you feel uncomfortable. However, no refunds will be provided in such cases.

  • Zero Tolerance for Misconduct: Bufaya reserves the right to dismiss any participant from the retreat for inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to violence, harassment, disrespect toward ceremonial practices, or failure to follow instructions from facilitators.

6. Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability

By attending a Bufaya retreat, you acknowledge that participation in activities involving ancestral medicines carries certain inherent risks. You agree to release, waive, and discharge Bufaya, its facilitators, and affiliates from any liability, claims, demands, or actions related to injuries, damages, or losses arising from your participation in the retreat, including those resulting from:

  • The use of ancestral medicines.

  • Emotional or psychological effects experienced during or after the retreat.

  • Any accident, illness, or injury sustained during activities, whether related to medicine ceremonies or other aspects of the retreat.

7. Cancellation and Force Majeure

Bufaya reserves the right to cancel or postpone a retreat due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, political unrest, or public health emergencies.

  • In the Event of Cancellation: If we cancel a retreat, you will be entitled to a full refund of any payments made. However, Bufaya will not be responsible for additional expenses incurred such as travel arrangements.

8. Intellectual Property

All materials provided during the retreat, including teachings, ceremonies, and written content, are the intellectual property of Bufaya. Participants may not record, reproduce, distribute, or otherwise use this content for commercial purposes without prior written consent.

9. Privacy Policy

Your personal information will be collected and used in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and will not share your data with third parties without your consent, except as necessary to provide our services or comply with legal obligations.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Michigan. Any disputes arising from your participation in a retreat will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Michigan.
